modular photo and crit

Both happy and sad with this one.  Ended up fighting with my material, and I think overall the material won.  Successfully made the shape I was going for, but had some minor tweaks to it.  Wished the pieces were stable enough to hold the form slightly better, but not much I could do about that.  I think I agree alot with what was said about my piece during the critique, and just wished this could have turned out bigger.  Although with bigger pieces, would I have been able to make such a shape?  Even after the critique, im still kinda fighting myself over what could have been done to improve this.  Maybe just not use puzzle pieces at all lol

modular madness prog

Bit off more than I could chew.  Puzzle pieces was a bad decision.  I liked that they were uncommon among the group, but really regret not finding larger pieces.  I can start to see how this is going to shape up, but its gonna be a loooooooong way til I get there

Word as image

A bit of a slow burn for me, but the word as image project came along nicely.  I spent alot of time trying to refine my first, and had a hard time trying to come up with the second.  Found out about halfway through that all the projects had to be square, so there was a little bit of cropping to be done on the first...
My cardboard shell came out somewhat adequate.  Overall, I found myself just going along with what the cardboard wanted me to do, rather than the other way around.  The form itself started to become a little skewed near the upper third.  It tiled to the side, and didnt have the same coherent swirl as before.  The top opening was a valiant effort, but overall I wasnt pleased with it.  It helped it resemble a shell somewhat, but just didnt capture the swirling feel of the original.  Finally, the spikes were a decent addition, that honestly pulled the whole thing together, because without it, it hardly looked like a shell at all
