Pics dawg

a. This photo was taken because we hadn't taken photos for the past 10 mins.  When my friend Ivonne and I hang out, we usually snap alot of photos, and this is just another one in the group.  This photo is "kept" on facebook, so its easy to have access to it.  I chose this photo in particular though because its a really good profile picture of her.  Just captures alot of her features, and her sort of contemplating pose is really good.  I also like the fact that she is centered with the picture, but the whole thing is taken at an angle, as you can tell from the background.  This, like many of our other pictures, is significant to me because she lives in Australia now, and its a good reminder of her.

b. Ivonne and I are best friends.  There's pretty much no one else I tell as much personal things to than her.  I suppose since we are so close its easy for me to take whatever photo of her, in whatever way.  Since we are so used to it, we can both be natural in pictures around each other, so this picture really seems to capture her deep thought that she was in at that moment.  At this point in time, there was no particular attitude toward the photographer, just her lost in thought.  The photographers attitude was non exisitant

c. This photo is just meant to viewed by whomever is perusing facebook for a short period of time I suppose.  I like this photo, but not sure if I'll remember it 10 years from now...

 a. This photo was taken for the reason most photos are taken at clubs/bars.  To have a recollection of what happened that night.  This photo, like most taken by people in this day and age, is kept because of facebook. I chose this because it was taken by a good friend of mine, and reminds me of how shaggy my friend Abel looked with a beard.  It's significant because the photographer is my friend who is in the marines, and its one of the customary hang outs we have whenever he is back in town.

b. The photographer, Daniel, has been one of my best friends for the longest time, all the way back to elementary.  This is just a pretty basic photo, so our relationship doesn't really affect the way the photo was taken.  The photographers attitude was probably some form of happiness, while everyone else was just preoccupied.

c. This is either to be viewed by those stalking around on facebook, or by the attendees of this night so that they can reminisce, but only for a short while.  I doubt I will remember this photo in 10 years, much less this night in particular
a. The purpose of this photo is to show off Michelle Trachtenberg's immense attractiveness.  I keep this picture because it does its job well.  Her eyes in the picture are so...mesmerizing.  I chose it because she's simply stunning, and pretty much anything she does is significant to me =).

b. I suppose there is little, to no emotional relationship between the photographer and the subject.  Probably just some photographer doing his job, and shes simply doing her job as well.  The picture is very basic, just her in front of a wall, and doesn't seem to capture any of her personality, so I think it does affect the picture.  Doesn't really change the way I look at it, because this is expected in these type of photo shoot picture.  Once again, I feel there is little to no attitude between the photographer and the subject.

c. This photo is meant to be viewed by anyone looking through google's images.  The length of time they spend looking is equivalent to how much they adore Ms. Trachtenberg.  I will remember her, but probably not this picture

modular photo and crit

Both happy and sad with this one.  Ended up fighting with my material, and I think overall the material won.  Successfully made the shape I was going for, but had some minor tweaks to it.  Wished the pieces were stable enough to hold the form slightly better, but not much I could do about that.  I think I agree alot with what was said about my piece during the critique, and just wished this could have turned out bigger.  Although with bigger pieces, would I have been able to make such a shape?  Even after the critique, im still kinda fighting myself over what could have been done to improve this.  Maybe just not use puzzle pieces at all lol

modular madness prog

Bit off more than I could chew.  Puzzle pieces was a bad decision.  I liked that they were uncommon among the group, but really regret not finding larger pieces.  I can start to see how this is going to shape up, but its gonna be a loooooooong way til I get there

Word as image

A bit of a slow burn for me, but the word as image project came along nicely.  I spent alot of time trying to refine my first, and had a hard time trying to come up with the second.  Found out about halfway through that all the projects had to be square, so there was a little bit of cropping to be done on the first...
My cardboard shell came out somewhat adequate.  Overall, I found myself just going along with what the cardboard wanted me to do, rather than the other way around.  The form itself started to become a little skewed near the upper third.  It tiled to the side, and didnt have the same coherent swirl as before.  The top opening was a valiant effort, but overall I wasnt pleased with it.  It helped it resemble a shell somewhat, but just didnt capture the swirling feel of the original.  Finally, the spikes were a decent addition, that honestly pulled the whole thing together, because without it, it hardly looked like a shell at all
